however I have not found his parents) Records show his ancestors were originally from Scotland and moved to
Ireland

Unknown before 1758.  (Some say his wife was Janette Hood but I have not found anything
to prove that) d. April 1771 in a canoe accident
m. I have found reports that he also married
Mrs Frisbee but again I have not found proof of that
marriage

He signed his will Sept 1 1807 Cooperstown Otsego NY and it was probated Sept 27 1830 at which time
James was deceased. Witnesses: Nehemiah Sleeper, removed to Philadelphia and died ca 1828, Samual Gardner
d. 1807 Laurens, Daniel Griswold d. 1811 Laurens
William left all my estate both real and personal to his son James for and during James's natural life.
After the decease of my son James, I do give, devise and bequeath all my real estate and all the rest unto my son
Thomas and my daughters Mary Putman, Sarah Forbes, and Mercy Barton.

in Otego Ostego NY. Witnessed by George Elliott. The deed was recorded June 22 1808 and witnessed by George Elliot and Israel Nickols.

Liber 0 p166 Cooperstown Otsego NY dated Feb 21 1803 sold to Joel Hammon of Vermont, for $1500, 95 acres of land in Otego, Ostego NY. Witnessed by David Putman and signed by George and Mary Putman. The deed was recorded Oct 1810 David Putman testified he saw George Putman sign, seal and deliver the land.
